In our previous post, we highlighted the Samsung Z Unpacked Event where Samsung’s first consumer-ready Tizen smartphone was scheduled to launch on July 10th for the Russian market.

However, the event was cancelled at the last moment and so team rollApp joined the Tizen community only at the Developer Summit in Moscow.

Why Tizen Smartphone Postponed 

In a statement sent to The Verge, Samsung said that it "plans to postpone" the Russian release of the phone, but will continue to "actively work with Tizen Association members to further develop TIzen OS and the Tizen ecosystem."

Vlad Pavlov, rollApp CEO and founder, in his talk with Wall Street Journal’s Olga Razumovskaya commented: “I definitely see movement, it’s just a natural process — this is how business works.” In a statement to WSJ, the Korean company said “the smartphone will appear on the Russian market later, when we can offer our users a fullest portfolio of applications.”

Jonathan Cheng, Wall Street Journal – Samsung Amps Up the Google Love: "The indirect reference is a reminder that, for all the affection Samsung is publicly voicing for Google, even the best of friends go through tough times. If there’s any larger strategy at play, Samsung says, it’s not trying to muscle out Android with Tizen; it’s simply that the company wants to offer consumers all kinds of choices — between Android, Windows Phone and Tizen, for instance."
